Key Biscayne-
I learned more than I sold. That pretty much sums up my first show. I learned that my Spanish has completely deteriorated over the last three years of not living in North Cuba aka south Florida. And I am no longer confident in my negotiating in Spanish. On a more positive note, picking the brains of artists who have been doing the "circuit" for 25+ years is invaluable as is getting some hand on experience doing these things, I have figured out how I am going to want to restructure my booth set up which i hope makes a world of difference. All of the artists I met that travel around and do this full time (by full time i mean full-ish time, I am doing this full time. I dont have an address, I have a VIN number. Which for the full-ish timers I think is a difficult concept because they feel like they're doing this full time, but not having a place to return to between shows is unfathomable. Kinda strange) which brings me to, they're kind of weird and quirky. this makes me feel somewhere between normal and like i fit in and good about myself :) haha. So I wonder, does this sort of lifestyle inherently make you weird? or do you need to be already be weird to embark on such a journey?? we shall see. Make a mental note of my current weirdness and lets revisit that in a year. :)
TO TAMPA!
Noted. Can't wait to pick your brain, drinks on me when you return :)
